Protect our healthcare by passing the New York Health Act | Campaign for New York Health Powerbase

Across New York, families are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of healthcare, and far too many are one illness or medical bill away from financial ruin. Let’s be honest: U.S. healthcare has never been fully equitable or affordable. Questions of access and cost have dominated public concern for decades. And while New York has a long history of stepping up when the federal government falls short, our solutions have too often addressed symptoms rather than the root causes of this crisis.

Now, because of deep federal healthcare cuts, New York faces an unprecedented emergency: skyrocketing health insurance premiums, a doubling of our uninsured population, and dozens of our hospitals at risk of closure. The scale of this crisis has grown far beyond what incremental fixes or temporary patches can solve. This moment demands leadership and courage– the leadership to confront the root drivers of unaffordable care, and the courage to enact the comprehensive reforms New Yorkers desperately need.

The legislature has the opportunity to deliver real, lasting relief by putting healthcare back within reach for every person in our state. Passing the New York Health Act would do exactly that.

If Washington’s healthcare cuts are the sword aimed at New Yorkers, the New York Health Act is the shield that can protect us. It would guarantee upgraded, comprehensive coverage; lower costs for families; stabilize our healthcare system; and keep hospitals open in every region of the state. At a time when trust in government is fragile and the erosion of democratic institutions feels all too real, passing the New York Health Act would demonstrate that New York refuses to abandon its people — and that our leaders can still deliver meaningful policy that meets the moment.

I urge you to do everything in your power to fight back against the federal cuts and protect us by ensuring the New York Health Act passes.
